Purpose of Assignment

The purposes of this paper are to define a clinical problem, to review the current literature for appropriate research-supported nursing interventions, to critique current practice, and to provide a plan for changing or adapting clinical practice.
Student Approach to Assignment
​
As an ICU nurse, I witness various complications associated with hospitalizations while recovering after surgeries. Although very preventable, our unit struggled to reduce delirium and prevent delirium. Thus, I wanted to explore this clinical problem, research and review the existing literature and learn new strategies to enhance the unit’s practice for improved patient outcomes.

Reason for Inclusion of this Assignment in the Portfolio

I wanted to include this project in my portfolio because it demonstrates my educational growth during my RN to BSN journey. It represented my ability to wholesomely look at clinical practice showcasing my skills to evaluate and outline the problem and its impact on the patient, unit, organization, and healthcare in general. This project featured my skills in conducting research and appraising literature to find better solutions for old problems.
